Application and Licensing Information
Hearing Aid Dealer and Fitter Examination - Application Deadline and Examination Dates
State applications must be approved by the department before taking the examination.
The Hearing Aid Dealers and Fitters licensing examination is administered by the International Hearing Society (IHS). Upon approval of the submitted Application for License, applicants will be sent information regarding exam registration directly from IHS. Registration is done online and the exam is administered on Oahu.
The deadline for exam registration is the second Friday of every month. Assuming there are no deficiencies with the application, which may cause the applicant to miss the exam registration deadline, approval to take the exam is approximately two weeks thereafter.

All Licenses regardless of issuance date, are subject to renewal by December 31 of every odd-numbered year.
Licenses not renewed by license expiration date are unlicensed and may not practice.
Regain Active Status
Restoration Information (Restore within 2 years after the license expiration)
Forfeited licenses may be restored within 2 years and subject to meeting restoration requirements.
(Must restore by hardcopy only)
Failure to restore a forfeited license within 2 years after the license expiration date will result in the termination of the license and the person must apply as a new applicant and meet current licensing requirements.
